According to the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) gang statistics for the month of February 1998, there are 407 criminal street gangs in the City with a total membership of 65,271. In the month of March 1998, statistics reflected an increase of gang membership of 242 bringing the total to 65,513.

The County and City of Los Angeles are the “gang capital” of the nation.  There are more than 450 active gangs in the City of Los Angeles. Many of these gangs have been in existence for over 50 years. These gangs have a combined membership of over 45,000 individuals.

Keith is in the football team at Olivet Middle school. He had never felt the feeling of scoring a touchdown so his football team members had something planned for him that will make him feel very proud. his team mates tried there hardest to get as close to goal line as possible,so they could give the ball to Keith so he could finally see how it feels to make a touchdown.even his parents were shocked cause they were like did he just make touchdown the mom said that"some one is always going to have his back.

Silverado Hospice, Los Angeles

In Silverado hospice they are looking for volunteers to join their team. As a hospice volunteer your duty is that you have to visit patients in their own home, in hospitals or in other nursing facilities. These people are terminally ill and in their final stages of life. You need to read the paper or a book to the patient, play and listen to music, talk and listen to them. You have to make company and make them feel like they care.

California Hospital Medical Center

Your duty here is to interview patients about food satisfaction in the hospital and inform them about the healthy choices. You also have to learn about the patient’s experience.

Silverado Hospice:

How you can apply for these volunteer positions is to be a volunteer for the Silverado Hospice you don’t really have to have experience in anything you just have to be at least 18 years of age. In this volunteer work you don’t have to do anything difficult only make others feel special.

California Hospital Medical Center:

      To be able to volunteer in the California hospital medical center you have to be at least 18 years of age. You are also supposed to do orientation or training.

Other interesting things: In the Silverado Hospice they will work with your schedule and they try to find a person who lives near your house so that you won’t work far.
